Beyonce slay Coachella, started her own sorority, and is the queen of Wakanda!

If you were lucky enough to go to Coachella in Palm Springs, California this year and had to opportunity to be graced by the presence of the Queen “B” (or you just watched the performance on youtube’s live Coachella feed like I did), then you probably have seen Beyoncé slay Coachella in many stunning looks. The queen was giving you a variety of dynamic aesthetics in her onstage ensembles. And of course, it wouldn't be a Beyonce show without a little political statement.
According to Vogue, Beyoncé's team had contacted Oliver Rousteing, the creative director of Balmain, a Parisian luxurious fashion house that is known for creating bold and opulent looks. Teaming up with Marni Senofornti, Beyonce’s head stylist, Rousteing created several extravagant looks for Beyoncé’s performance in both weeks of Coachella. In an interview with vogue, Rousteing said Bey wanted to go for a futuristic military style. Which, to be honest, was not what I was getting when I saw some of these looks.
Beyoncé arrived on stage in a dazzling futuristic ‘Queen of Wakanda’ ensemble that is totally  fitting for a queen. She was accompanied by dancers, who were also styled by Rousteing, dressed in Egyptian print leotards to match the 'African queen' aesthetic. In comparison, her second look was a yellow cropped hoodie with “BAE” embellished in the front matched with denim shorts and a pair of glittery fringed boots, which was very glamorous but kind of laid back. It didn’t match the theme of the first outfit or what Rousteing had described as 'futuristic military'. I may not have any military experience but I can assure you that daisy dukes and thigh-high boots aren't the most functional attire when going into war. Maybe she plans to blind her enemies with her eleganza. Nevertheless, the look gave me life and only the Queen "B" can look that glam performing in a yellow hoodie and jean shorts.
Beyoncé’s leather look was, without a doubt, my favorite out of all of her looks. The head-to-toe latex ensemble was very fitting to the the 'futuristic military' theme. The latex body suit complimented the Queen’s hourglass shape very well. And the embellished shoulder detailing added a bit of opulence to the look. And of course you can’t have a military look without SHOULDER PADS. In the third look, Bey is once again serving you shorts and thigh-highs which seems to be a reccurring theme. I am in love this look. The oversized mesh t-shirt fastened by the corset that latches onto thigh-high oil-slick latex tights is so smart. This look is fresh. It’s on trend. And it’s just goddamn fabulous. I’m obsessed. Out of all her outfits, I feel like this one is the most wearable.
Of course, Beyonce gave the kids more than what they paid for because she is a living saint. Towards the end of the show, she brought Destiny’s Child on stage. They all had on matching glittery camo ensembles that went well together. These looks were my least favorite of all because Michelle and Kelly were basically wearing two piece work-out gear. Only Bey’s outfit maintained that same level of glamour that she had been giving all night. I get it. Beyoncé is the main event, but Rousteing could’ve tried a little harder to make Kellly and Michelle to look less like background dancers in comparison. (No tea, no shade. just Beyoncé’s Lemonade).
All in all, the looks Rousteing and Senofornti came up with for what is now known as 'Beychella' were edgy, fierce, and totally fitting for our future Queen Overlord. I’m obsessed with these looks and can’t wait to see what they have in store for next week’s performance.

Side note: word on the street is Michelle had to leave early because she had church in the morning.
